The McDonough Police Department found out the hard way that the advice they gave to their residents to install burglar alarms in their homes should have applied to them, as well. In early June, someone broke into the unmanned station, after their regular business hours ended at 5 p.m.
No one has apprehended the intruders, who came in through a window and made their way to the evidence room. It's not known if they actually removed anything from the building at this time. There are currently no clues as to what they might have been looking for, but it was obvious that they knew the building well enough to find their way around.
There was also no video surveillance system in the station, so investigators are looking at footage from the systems of area businesses to see if there was any suspicious activity in the area at the time.
