ADX Systems is now Vivint
In 2010 APX Systems, one of the nation's largest home security system providers, embarked on a rebranding campaign in order to better represent its future. With a stronger focus on home automation systems, the company was officially renamed Vivint in early 2011. The company arrived at its new name by combing the words "vive," meaning "to live," with "intelligent," reflecting their aim to help customers live intelligently. Their corporate mission is "to help our customers build a simple, affordable home automation system, where every piece of technology works together intelligently to enhance safety and convenience, and increase energy efficiency."
APX Company History
APX was founded in 1999 by Todd Pederson, growing rapidly over the next decade and now offering security services throughout the US and Canada to over 500,000 customers with monthly revenue of $20 million. They have been especially active recently. In 2009, following an investment by Goldman Sachs to the tune of $440 million, APX Systems opened a new state-of-the-art headquarters in Provo, Utah. Now renamed Vivint, the company hopes to lead the way in advanced wireless integrated security systems backed with award winning customer service.
Home Security Facts
The Department of Justice estimates the average loss per residential burglary at over $2,000. Nearly two-thirds of burglaries are residential and homes without security systems are three times more likely to be robbed than homes with security systems, which is why you see stickers and signs for security systems prominently displayed on many homes. A home security system is one of the most effective deterrents to robbery. 9 out of 10 convicted burglars stated they would avoid a house which had an alarm system. Since most burglaries involve little planning, occur during the day, and take only a few minutes, any obstacle placed in a robber's way dramatically lowers his chance of success.
Vivint Security and Automation
Vivint hopes to capitalize on the rising number of smart households that can monitor safety and control energy consumption via home networking. They offer more than just simple residential security, but complete and affordable automation services, taking advantage of technological advances in a world of increasing connectivity.
The company's crown jewel is the GO!Control Z-Wave Alarm Panel, an all-in-one security solution integrating two-voice communication, cellular radio, a color touch-screen, and wireless control, allowing customers to control appliances from a smart phone or computer. The large LCD screen is built for easy use in order to make calling for emergencies and controlling the entire system as simple as possible. There are roughly 170,000 customers currently using the GO!Control Panel.
The system is connected wirelessly, so customers don't have to worry about old hard lines being severed by potential burglars. Alerts can be sent directly to a user's phone. Any sensors triggered or video surveillance captured can be viewed immediately from anywhere. Vivint even offers free severe weather alerts to customers in the Midwest and South that are at high risk of being hit by tornados.
Not only is the control panel built for easy security control, but is integrated with the whole range of products and services Vivint now offers, including automatic locks, energy and light control, video surveillance, and security and safety sensors.
Live Greener and Save Money
Living intelligent includes living greener and living richer. Now that all the controls for energy use are controllable from a phone or internet, and therefore accessible anywhere, it means customers can cut costs and save more on monthly bills.
Outstanding Service
All the services provided by Vivint are backed by the company's award-winning customer service. They have been awarded "An Outstanding Customer Service Experience" twice by the J.D. Power and Associates Call Center Program and landed on the International Customer Management Institute's "Top 50 Call Centers for Customer Service" list. For two consecutive years Vivint has been ranked as a top ten dealer (currently #4) on Security Dealer Magazine's (SDM) list of the largest 100 security installation and monitoring companies. Founder, CEO, and President Todd Pederson also received the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the services category in the Utah region.
Vivint Gives Back
Founded in 2008, the Vivint Gives Back program was created to provide for families in need. Many employees contribute time and money to various charities and service projects. Run by the Vivint Family Foundation, the program is currently donating $1.25 million to various charities around North America, taking votes online through their website and allowing anyone to endorse or nominate where the funds are directed.
